Case Study: Find an example of a leader recently faced with an ethical dilemma (within the last two years). Select your example from the national news, the educational arena, or any other organizations where you might have access to information. Develop a detailed description of the leader and the situation. Do not use the Jerry Sandusky case.
Provide relevant information to the case. Describe the overall characteristics of the setting. For example, if the case is in an organizational setting, is the organization located in an urban, rural or suburban setting? What is the demographic makeup of the institution, organization or nation? Is the setting public or private? Identify the primary individuals or groups involved in the case. Note their relationship to each other and to the organization, state, nation, etc. Note special circumstances that give light to the important elements in the case. For example, ask yourself: What is the historical interplay between key characters/groups in the case? What are the formal and informal power relationships that exist within the case? What are the institutional/regional/national values? What are the allowed behaviors and climate in the setting? Make sure to identify the problem(s) clearly and concisely. Discuss what is involved in the issue and how various members of the organization were impacted. Provide particulars related to the situation and to the ethical issue(s) involved.
Analyze the case thoroughly. Take a position: Identify an overall resolution to the case study. Support your decision in a three to four page APA formatted paper with a minimum of three references.
