We have a mixed enrollment of students in this course. Not all are healthcare professionals, however, are professionals in other areas that will require working with, managing, and/or leading others. The topic for this week addresses managing healthcare professionals, however, basic principles of management and leadership apply across the spectrum of professions- even in small groups as you learned in teamwork. A basic understanding of your colleagues and how they are educated and licensed, certified, or registered is important for you as a manager to know and understand the difference among each of the categories listed. It is also important to understand the continuing education required to maintain each professional level.
Using the information you have learned thus far, discuss how you might handle conflict within a group of mixed level professionals (such as you would have in a small department of an office situation) and deal with a variety of behaviors. What strategies wouod you need to employ to prevent turnover and increase retention?
