APA Guidelines Paper
The initial APA connotes the term American psychology association. It refers to a style of academic writing in which scholars adheres to certain guidelines for the citation for social sciences. According to the style of writing, the paper has four major sections namely, the title page, references, and main body. The last section of the four is the abstract. In its cover sheet, writers provide their names in an arrangement of the first name, the middle name and then the surname. The institutions affiliation follows the name.
For the cover sheet, all pages in the writing style have a header with the first page having a running header and the page number but in the subsequent pages, there is only the title and the page number without the ‘running head’ phrase.
When composing the abstract of APA, one commences on a new page. The subheading, abstract, appears at the center of the paper in the recommended normal fonts. At no particular time, can writer use italics in composing the word abstract. The writing commences on a new line with no indention on the paragraph.
The introduction section of the paper utilizes times roman style with the title centered. The commencing line has indent and the information presented guides the readers in understanding the problem the paper seeks to solve.
The main body of the text describes the methods of research and materials used in solving the problem described in the introduction. For discussions, APA explores the limitation of the studies before presenting a conclusion.
The referencing technique is what differentiates the writing with other techniques. For in text, both the name of the author and the year of publication for the reading appear in the in-text. The surname of the author appears before the date of publication of the material. The reference list section varies for articles, books, and web pages; however, the general guideline is having the last name appear first then followed by initial and the date of publication. The title appears afterward in italics, then the place of publication and publisher’s name.
An appendix describes the contents of a paper in a summarized form. The information backs up the contents of the paper.
