A six-page (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt. font) essay that synthesizes at least three in-depth, print-based sources which have been located by the student (that is, not class readings). This equates to 2,000 words (including the title but not the heading or works cited). The Works Cited page would be page seven, and students should strive to meet the word count, not just getting onto a 6th page (Focusing on the word count acknowledges the fact that some students insert images/captions, graphs, tables, etc., in which case their papers would likely need to be 1-2 pages longer).
