My question
1- Deciding on what drives you or you are passionate about and tell me what the project is, why, how you are going to do it and why it is novel.
2- First think is what is your project. Is it a G x E experiment? If it is then what is the aspect of wheat production you tend to interrogate with the system, where do you get the germplasm from, what environmental factors will you control and how will you monitor the population? Does it have to be limited to what’s at UNE? I don’t think so, as long as it is justified.
Is it about phenotyping? If it is then what parameters should we measure in wheat that relate to yield? What equipment do you need to measure them? Look at the CSIRO Phenomobile. Is it about mirroring that? This strays into the realm of precision agriculture.
Or, is it a project about production issues in Iraq? If it is then what are these (farm size, mechanization, available labour, water limitations, soil nutrition, fertilizer availability and supply, germplasm options, stability, aces to markets). This is an investigative project. You identify the issues, review the relevant literature and look for solutions elsewhere in the globe (e.g. mechanization in Turkey or Cambodia, fertilizer solutions in Mozambique, water in Tanzania). You then propose which might work for Iraq. The project is to conduct a full review based on a brief investigation of the issues and some preliminary data sourcing.
