For our final discussion we will be looking at the issue of leadership in the context of strategic management. Effective leadership is critical in all stages of strategic management – including formulation, implementation and control. Leadership is defined a the ability to develop and articulate a vision of the future for the organization or a unit of the organization, to motivate others to buy that vision and to get it implemented. Leadership can occur at many levels in the organization, but in the context of strategy leadership needs to come from senior management within the organization.
For this discussion board you are required to make one (1) initial posting outlining what you think are some of the hallmarks of an effective leader, and the issues that leaders face when trying to formulate, implement and control strategy.
