m12. One of the most interesting aspects of drama is that every production can be fresh even if it is working with a classic play like Hamlet. As an example please watch the clip of the BBC production of Hamlet below:

Think about the setting this production creates. The sharp viewer will note that the clothing worn is from World War II, the weapons are from World War I, the security camera is clearly a newer technology and the flashlights used could be from any of these times. Also it can be noted that the characters are inside, but refer to being able to see stars and even point a flashlight at the stars.
The setting makes no sense at all and this is done purposefully. What is this production trying to accomplish by creating an abstract or insane place for the characters to inhabit?
