Essay Plan & Annotated Bibliography
Word length: 1000 words.
Essay Question: According to some of the cultural theorists, subjectivity is not innate, fixed and naturally occurring but dynamic, fluid and culturally constituted. Explain this claim with reference to theories of performance/performativity (Carlson, Marvin (1996) Performance: A Critical Introduction. London and New York: Routledge, pp.11-18, 31-37, 61-63 & 76-79.) and habitus (Swartz, David L. (2002) ‘The Sociology of Habit: The Perspective of Pierre Bourdieu’, The Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, vol. 22, pp.61-69.).

Part 1: Essay Plan (500 words)
You are not required to write a full essay, you will submit a detailed 500 word essay plan of your research essay for feedback from your tutor. Feedback and grading of this assessment task is to be used by the student to improve their argument, research and writing skills before submission of the final essay.
Your plan should do the following:
• Briefly summarise the concepts/ theories you will analyse in your essay (the question asks you to specifically refer to concepts/ theories and examples, make sure you include these in your essay).
• Indicate some examples that you might use to support your analysis
• Outline your argument and show the stages through which your argument will progress.
• Indicate which of your academic publications (journal articles) will be used at various stages in your analysis.

Part 2: Annotated Bibliography (500 words)
You will need to provide an annotated bibliography to six relevant scholarly publications; two of these are
Carlson, Marvin (1996) Performance: A Critical Introduction. London and New York: Routledge, pp.11-18, 31-37, 61-63 & 76-79.
and
Swartz, David L. (2002) ‘The Sociology of Habit: The Perspective of Pierre Bourdieu’, The Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, vol. 22, pp.61-69.
and four publications that you have to search your own. Each of your entries should provide full bibliographical details of the specific academic publication, as well as a brief description of how it will be useful for the major essay. Each annotation should be approximately 80 words.

Note: Journal articles must be peer reviewed
