My topic:My general research question is about how can international students fit into the American culture, such as making friends with American. I think this is a very interesting research question. There are so many international students in the United States I feel like many international students usually play with the people who from the same country. They do not have many chances to speak English in their daily lives. It causes them that they cannot increase their English speaking skill. The major concepts in the question are international students making friends who are American can help them increase their English speaking skill. I would do a survey asks international students about age, gender,ethnicity, how many year they have been study in US, and some English test. I am still not sure about how to get result yet. I still need to think about how to get a better result of this question.

The Requirement:
You need to select a topic of interest to focus on for the remaining assignments. For the first of these assignments, due this week, you need to be able to clearly state a research topic or issue of interest in one sentence or question. This topic should be both limited enough in scope so that you are able to find specific research on it but one that is not so limited that you can’t find anything on it. The following are a couple of examples of the kinds of topics you might consider: Does gender of defendant have an impact on criminal case outcomes? What attitudes do members of the public hold about national heath care? What factors play a role in girls’ and/or young women’s decision to join gangs? Are families who live in suburbs more or less content than those who live in urban environments?
Once you have decided upon your topic, you need to find a minimum of 5 articles or edited book chapters from acceptable scholarly sources (as discussed in Week 1) that are relevant to your chosen topic. These sources can be related to the substantive topic of your research question and/or the theoretical base of your question. In other words, if, for example, you are proposing a study of the effect of public contact with police on public attitudes about police fairness and effectiveness, you could look into prior research that examined attitudes toward police generally, social psychological research on how attitudes are shaped by level and type of knowledge about the attitude object, research on police-citizen contact generally, or all three. Avoid using entire books, but if you do find a good book on your topic, make sure that you also find articles to use. This assignment must use APA (5th edition) format. I will provide a style sheet that will illustrate how these references should be listed. See example below.
You also need to write a coherent justification for your topic in a couple of paragraphs. This justification should refer to what is already known about the general topic in existing research, and explain why you are interested in your particular topic.
