FINAL INTERNSHIP REPORT

The Final Internship Report is intended to allow students an opportunity to reflect on their internship experience, to learn how organizations work and evaluate for themselves what kind of organization they might want to work for or establish. Complete the Final Internship Report using the guidelines listed below. Submit it at the end of the internship along with your final self and employer evaluations to the Internship Director. The report should be approximately 10 pages, double-spaced, and conform to general academic writing guidelines. The Title page and References will not count towards the length of your paper.

I. General information – open with a paragraph that identifies these points

E. Basic duties as intern

II. Place of internship – describe in detail the internship site
A. Provide an organizational chart of the internship site
B. Major organizational activities: what does this organization do? What is its purpose?
C. How does the organization deliver its products or services?
D. How does it let people know what it does or produces? How does it market or advertise itself?

III. Employment and training – describe in detail how you began your internship
A. Explain the reasons you sought an internship with this organization
B. Describe the selection process you went through, how you decided on this internship, your initial contact, and your interview and placement with the organization
C. Describe your initial training with the organization, including the positive and negative aspects of your training

IV. Internship experience – write a narrative analysis of your work as an intern.
A. What were the most important aspects of the internship? What did you spend most of your time doing? Did these match at all?
B. How did your experience match your initial internship proposal? How so? If it changes, how did it change? Were the changes beneficial or not?
C. Were any of the courses in your major helpful in selecting or performing this internship? If so, which ones? How did these courses help?
D. Finally, how would you evaluate your internship experience? What did you find were the major lessons learned? How would you do it differently if you had the chance? How did it affect your career goals and aspirations?
