OT 4110/5110 Contexts of Occupational Therapy Service Delivery
Community and Emerging Practice Assignment
Objective: To explore contextual issues affecting community-based and emerging practice service systems and analyze the role of occupational therapy within those systems. This macro-environmental analysis is a pre-requisite requirement for OT 5211–Program Planning for Populations.
Instructions: Each student group will conduct a community and service profile for an assigned community and a profile of an assigned community-based service system (e.g., specific community agency) that does not currently provide occupational therapy services and its surrounding community. Students will also conduct a drive through of the assigned community to observe and provide a description of the physical environment.
Students will prepare a 10 page paper (not inclusive of references) that analyzes the current state of a community’s occupational needs and ways occupational therapy can contribute to addressing those needs. It will consist of the following components:
I. Community Profile – overview of the community at multiple layers to include: relevant economic, social, educational, health, and demographic data on the community and its residents; description of the community’s social-cultural values and other influences; description of the occupational needs of the community/population ; a map of the community being described. (LINCOLN PARK, IL) (ONLY FOCUS ON THIS SECTION COMMUNITY PROFILE)
The writer will have to research on the internet to find the information. Please don’t use Wikipedia as a reference my professor will not accept information from that source
The agency is: Little Sisters of the Poor
St. Mary’s Home Senior Center
2325 N. Lakewood Ave.
Chicago, IL 60614-3112
II. Service Profile – description of the population to be served, their condition (needs, concerns, issues) and context (services and supports available in the community), including societal trends affecting the population and services provided (DON’T DO)
III. Agency Profile – description of an assigned agency in the community which serves the identified population, including (but not limited to) location and contact information, its purpose, mission, goals and objectives, population served, and services/programs provided. (DON’T DO)
IV. Hypothesis of unmet occupational needs – identification of specific occupation-based needs determined from information gathered for the community, service and agency profiles and the potential role that occupational therapy can have, in the community or within the agency, in addressing the unmet needs. Occupational therapy theory must be used to support your conclusions. (DON’T DO)
References must be appropriately cited and formatted and must come from reputable sources (no more than two from popular media such as Newsweek, newspapers, etc.). The paper will be evaluated on structure, clarity, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
In addition, students will develop a one-page outline, highlighting 5-7 major points about the area of service and occupational therapy’s role, using the components identified above, that will be discussed in class.
I will forward some references that could help with writing the paper. Also, I will forward a similar paper my paper should look and have the same content/structure but using Lincoln Park, IL. information, statistics, and data.
I would like writer 3158 and/ or 113894
