INTRODUCTION
This should set out:
• The rationale for the chosen topic – i.e. why is it important
• What you know about it – i.e. evidence from high quality news media and other sources detailing the nature of the topic, why it has emerged, its impact etc.
You should make use of ideas you have come across in this module to inform both of the above elements.
Your choice of topic should be something that is relevant to managers. That is, avoid issues that can only be addressed through a very high level response (corporate strategy) or by a change in government policy. These are beyond the scope of what you are learning on this module.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSE
This should set out how organisations/managers have responded to this issue:
• What organisations have actually done – e.g. examples of organizational practice from high quality news media; case studies from professional publications or from academic sources.
• You should attempt to make sense of what organisations have done in light of the ideas you have been introduced to on this module – i.e. can you evaluate the success or failure of the examples you have looked at by using theory? Perhaps you may be able to anticipate whether a particular example will be successful or unsuccessful by applying the ideas you have come across.
This allows you to demonstrate your capacity for analysis, that you are capable of going beyond simple description.
MANAGEMENT SKILLS
This should set out the particular types of management skills that a required for an effective organizational response to the issue.
The more specific you can be and the closer you can align the aspects of the preceding discussion with the identification of skills, the better.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
This is where you set out all of the sources of evidence and ideas that you have made use of in your report.
