FILM ANALYSIS: FAMILY CASE STUDY

Instructions:
Film Analysis: Family Case Study – The objective of the assignment is to complete a sociological study of a family portrayed in film using a case study format. The movie I chose is “Juno”.
Here is what I need:
– I need only two pages developing these three points about the film or movie JUNO (2007). (see bellow)
– I don’t need any summary of the movie
– I don’t need any paragraph describing the family
I ONLY NEED TO DEVELOP THESE THREE POINTS IN TWO PAGES BASED ON THE MOVIE:
1. Gender Roles of the Adults & Parenting & Socialization – Which members perform the instrumental tasks in the family, are the breadwinners? Which members perform the expressive tasks, are concerned with the emotional well-being of the family? Who performs the majority of the child-care tasks? How are the duties of the “second shift” performed? Is the family traditional in gender role behavior (the male is the head of the household), is decision making more of a shared responsibility or is the female the primary decision maker? Are there children in the family? If so, how many? Are the children biological, assimilated, adopted, foster or surrogate? Are the biological needs of the children being met? Are their emotional needs being met? Do the parents demonstrate good parenting skills? What is the dominate parenting style – authoritarian, authoritative (assertive/democratic), indulgent (permissive) or uninvolved? Does ethnicity, race, religion, socioeconomic status or geographic location influence gender roles and/or parenting?

2. Work, Socioeconomic Status & Education – What is the socioeconomic status of the family? Does it influence the behavior of the members? Is there a problem with downward mobility or upward mobility? Is there a struggle to maintain the current life style? Has the family been influenced by the recent employment or unemployment of the parents, employment or unemployment of the children? What priority does education have in the family? How does the family define success?

3. Family Struggles & Crisis – Is the family facing a crisis? If so, what is it? Are their efforts to deal with the crisis successful? How do they handle stress? Is their response effective? Are their experiences different or similar to what other families might encounter?
