For the essay, you will take a position FOR an issue regarding Native American Studies and write to convince the reader to believe or do something for the issue at hand. To convince the reader you need to state more than just opinion but facts and examples to back up your opinion central to the argument. You need to collect information central to the argument that you are examining. the claims, the evidence, the assumptions, and argue for the position of FOR or PRO that you think is true, (thesis statement).
Purpose: in the essay you will use evidence to support your claims and position. The claims are your interpretation of a situation or event or your opinion. By using and analyzing quotes from academic scholars and experts who agree with your position of FOR. Your argument must be strengthened with sources and details. An analysis of the evidence falls into 3 categories rational appeal, emotional appeal, and ethical appeal. Make sure you clarify each in the paper. These are some possible themes you can choose from and I would like for you the writer to choose from: tribes related too religion,marital dynamics,treatment of children,hunting strategies,environment,results of colonization, or modern day life. Choose one odf those themes and stick to it. Also stick to one specific Native American tribe. Be very specific and very detailed. Remember its research you are conducting and and you are creating a For or PRO argument.
