How students react when someone break rule in library.

Overview of Activities of the Week

I have provided more information on the weekly activities in the timesheets that I have attached that are: #11B, and #12B. Additionally, I had the opportunity of participating in some assembly meetings in Anchorage, work sessions, plus various committee gatherings. On top of that, I also attended a Let’s Move committee meeting where we discussed ways to achieving the Goals set by the All-star committee.

Elements:

  1. Knowledge

Pick a short section and summarize

Reynolds, B. C. (1942). Learning and teaching in the practice of social work. New York: Rinehart.

  1. Skills and Roles

I used the skill Empathy while attending Rogers Park Community Council, a constituent was describing the raising epidemic of homeless camps in the neighborhood, she was suggesting that there must be something done to combat the growing trend, in the same instance keeping in mind that they are human beings too, and they should be treated with dignity and respect. As a social worker I was empathetic to problems the neighbors are facing.

  1. Values

Value:  ”Social Justice”

Ethical Principle: “Social workers challenge social injustice.”

According to the National Association of Social Workers (2008), social workers peruse social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people. On April 12, 2016 the Anchorage Municipal Assembly passed a resolution recognizing the month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness month, this will help raise awareness to the community of the on going sexual assault crimes going on in Anchorage.

  1. Ethics

“2.05 Consultation

According to NASW Code of Ethics, “Social workers should seek the advice and counsel of colleagues whenever such consultations is in the best interests of clients” (NASW, 2008, p. 16). During a marijuana worksession members of the Anchorage Assembly worked alongside the municipal attorneys and the Anchorage Ombudsman to draft an amendment for AO 2016-27 Code Chapter 2 providing a template for Community Councils in ways to handle planning for marijuana establishments. This is a prime example how one should go by seeking advice from colleagues.

  1. Macro: Social Policies and Issues

On April 5, 2016 Anchorage held its municipal elections, there was 5 assembly seats eligible. 3 of the seats were open and 2 members were running for re-elections. The assembly members that were running for re-election won by a large percentage of votes and 3 of the seats were won by “democrats”, which gives the current administration an opportunity to implement the changes they want to see. Despite the progressive thinking members of the assembly, I would like to see the anchorage assembly represented with more diversity to properly represent the Anchorage multi cultured community.

  1. F. Self-care.

I fell ill this past week, so my self care revolved around taking care of my flu like symptoms, I don’t know if it was the change of weather or the stress of finalizing the program, I’m just grateful it has pass.
