Human Resources Management (HRM)

Because this is a research paper, first~ you have to come up with a research question. You can choose any topic related to HR. For example, you can ask “what are some ways to work with a hyper-emotional employee?” You have to explain why you think is important to answer this question. Then in the paper, you have to do more research to answer or prove your question. *** In your paper, you must have 2 pages of references, title page and abstract.

This is an opportunity for each of us to learn from each other’s research.  It is my hope that every student has completed a quality research project.  A primary objective of the research project has been to produce a paper that would be informative for fellow students as well as practicing managers/human resource managers.  To further this objective the last few weeks of classes has been set aside to allow time for each student to report the results of his or her research to the class, so that we can all benefit from the research findings.

In an informal setting each student should be prepared to summarize his or her paper in approximately five to ten minutes.

  • What is your research question?
  • Why is your topic important?  Why would answering your question be helpful for managers?
  • What did you find?
  • What are three recommendations that you have for managers – ways to improve human resource management.

<Before writing the paper, please read this. Make sure this research paper will include the answer of those questions. >

In addition please prepare a one page summary of your research addressing the questions above.

Research Paper:  The research paper will be an in-depth investigation of an HR topic of interest to you.  It will be of an appropriate quality for submission to the Journal of Undergraduate Research, or to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.

An informal goal should be to present your research as a Poster at the Student Research Day.

The Research Paper may be divided into a number of smaller, individually graded assignments that will be due at various points in the semester.  Opportunities to rewrite and revise certain of these assignments will be allowed.  It is envisioned that these assignments will combine to create a finished, complete research paper.

During the final few weeks of the semester time will be set aside for each student to make a short in-class summary presentation of his or her research paper.
