M8D2: Informal and Formal Business Networks
Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
• Identify how informal and formal networks are used in managerial business communication.
Business communication in organizations can occur via formal and informal networks. Employee resource groups (ERGs) are typically approved by the organization and share some characteristics of the company’s culture. Informal networks are often less structured. However, they can provide a better representation of what’s transpiring in an organization. Study business communication in organizations and respond to the following:
• Why should managers be concerned with informal networks?
• How can informal networks be utilized in the context of managerial interviewing?
