The second paragraph will analyze the source using the CRAP test. Then, include a brief description of whether you used the source and if so, in which paper.Jones, Ryan. “Is the American Dream Over?.” New Yorker. Aug 2010: 68-74. Web. 12 Jan. 2013.

In Is the American Dream Over?, Ryan Jones argues that the traditional notion of the American Dream is crumbling. He points out that the 2008 recession has shrunk job opportunities for the average American. Jones contrasts this with the post-New Deal economy and blames the conservative ideology of free market capitalism and Republican governance for the lagging recovery. He concludes that these policies are destructive to the economy and must be changed or risk a full-on economic depression.

This essay was published in 2010, so it is over 4 years out of date and some of the statistics are no longer correct. The statistical information appears to be reliable because I can verify it with outsides sources and Jones also uses statistics from the Department of Justice as evidence. However, the article was not heavily cited and it appears in a popular magazine, rather than a scholarly journal. The author, Ryan Jones, possesses a Phd in economics from Stanford and has written numerous articles about the economy in major magazines and online news sites. He is an authority in the field of economics. In the article, Jones uses a sarcastic tone and seems to be biased against conservative economic philosophies. His purpose for writing is argumentative and his writing is not objective. I used this source in my 2nd paper, entitled The Rich v. The Poor However, I did admit in the paper that Jones loses some credibility by not presenting a completely balanced argument.
