Macro community organization

Macro community organization

Macro community organization can be regarded as a set of professional procedures that are designed to cause transformational change in a community. These procedures are more applicable to social workers and community developers since gives the guidelines of how transformation may be achieved. This essay will consider ageing women and lesbians as a diverse population and will attempt to find out the suitable approach to developing them.

Ageing women and lesbians in the 21st century have continually suffered color and gender-based discrimination (Weaver, 2012) and hence can be classified in the category of special population (Wallerstein & Duran, 2006). All along, men have been dominating in careers that are thought to be masculine like politics, engineering, as well as art jobs. For example, most chief chefs are males due to the fact that males make the best chefs. Moreover, it is rare to see a male secretary in charge of office operations because this job is perceived to be predominantly feminine. Therefore, this population does not have access to opportunities in which they can develop themselves and thus necessitating their consideration as people who need support (Nystrom & Jones, 2003), and this has prompted me to develop initiation ideas of running a foster care agency to support the group..

Kretzmann and McKnight Model

This model seems to be the best fit for the task of helping women (Fisher & Shragge, 2000). To begin with, the model provides opportunities to delve into new income generating projects that can offer financial support to women. Secondly, it provides them with opportunity to be part of the investments to be made. This will boost the level of ownership of such projects. Finally, the model acts as a bridge to connect them to their destinies which may be either private or public. However, the biggest challenge will be to get faithful and transparent development agencies and organizations to perform a patronage role to the much needed development.
