This forum asks you to consider topics and post preliminary research questions for the final unit: Natural Sciences and Technology.
1.Open the resource titled Natural Sciences and Technology (the resource is available posted below this forum in moodle or you can find it here on the library webpage http://libguides.dbq.edu/ld.php?content_id=9711425 – the library Research Guide for the Natural Science section in our region. Browse through the PowerPoint and choose at least one topic suggestion from each of the science subject areas: Earth, Life, and Applied Sciences. Click on each item in the powerpoint to see an informative article on each topic.
2. Post at least three detailed topic ideas suitable for a Science Review of Literature essay in our content area (Mississippi River Watershed Region). This will help you bring some prior knowledge to our library session day.
3. Review page 35, “Developing a Research Question”, in Research Matters. Choose two topic ideas from any topics posted (yours or posted by a peer) that interest you. Conduct preliminary research to discover current trends on these topics. For example, what are researchers focusing on? What problems or controversies are there about the topic? Why is the topic significant?
4. Based on what you discover, create two possible research questions for each of these topics. Post these four potential research questions to this discussion forum.
