Below you can read the boundaries of the case I wrote as a starting point to answer what need to be discuss in this paper
Discuss the following issues and include justification:
Preliminary decisions that need to be made relative to types and source of evidence
Sampling strategies to be used for each type or source of evidence
Strategies for choosing the most appropriate technology tools for data management and analysis
Criteria you will use to make these decisions, and the advantages and disadvantages of each choice; support your decision-making process with your rationale
Defining the Boundaries of a Case
Dr. Janet Staker Woerner wrote the Qualitative Case Study of Facebook and Its Perceived Impact on Social Connectivity is used as the case to investigate. Facebook has become one of the global used social media platforms today. The conceptual framework for this study was based upon the theories of social capital proposed by Lin (1999), Portes (2000), Putnam (2000), and Woolcock (1998).
Parameters of Inquiry
Social media tools to assist in innovative course development that employ social networking tools, as well as help faculty determine how to use such tools to create a deeper learning experience for students. Ways university students are applying social networking for academic learning. Web-based social networking tools have been increasing in higher education (Greenhow et al., 2009). Social capital consists of three attributes identified as structure, the opportunity or accessibility to connect via strong or weak ties, and finally the actual use of these attributes (Lin, 1999).
Setting for the Case
The Internet represents a new phase of communication in which social networking portals enable connections between diverse groups of users at an increasingly accelerated pace through choices such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube (Boyd & Ellison, 2007; Hampton, Goulet, Purcell, & Rainie, 2011). Students from different generations use Facebook in a variety of ways. Give examples here.
The Purpose
The purpose of this study was to provide faculty and administrators with a better understanding of the role of Facebook in a higher education business course (Woerner, 2015). Understanding the role of web-based social media tools and how they might contribute to the expansion of social connectivity could assist higher education faculty and administrators in adding value to the classroom experience. The stakeholders include the learners, faculty, administrators, and finally people within the workplace (Woerner, 2015).
Not included in the Case
Web-based social networking is the platform not used by baby boomers. Did not specifically study how the use of web-based social networking tools such as Facebook could enhance the learning experience (Woerner, 2015). The impact of LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube could also consider as learning platforms for higher education. Faculty and administrators could assist at this issue of integration of social networking.
