1) In reproductive endocrinology infertility treatment we face many moral and ethical issues. We are frequently in the news and our ethics questioned. We can now grow embryos longer in the lab than when we first started doing in vitro fertilization. We can now do pre-implantation genetic diagnosing (PGD). We can pick out embryos free from a “bad” gene like cystic fibrosis. We can take immature ooctyes and sperm and mature them in the lab. We can if we want even pick out the boys and girls. How would it be if we were able to develop a human fetus to full term in the lab? Scary!

2) According to Schneider (2009), if one undergoes radical enhancements, is the result still the same person or someone else? When taking into consideration the nature of persons argument presented in the reading, we see that the person would not be the exact same. In the mindscan scenario we see that despite the new Jake looking and acting like the previous Jake Sullivan, they are not the same. If you knew that these enhancements would change you as a person, would you still be willing to do it?
