Since the early 1990s, national governments have increasingly utilized international events in order to pursue political objectives. Drawing on the academic literature, discuss this statement with particular reference to two specific international events of your choice (not general genres or categories).

Ps: essay title is %50 correct and %50 wrong, therefore It needs to be critically talk about the correct and the wrong side. It is not only that, after 1990 political issues started. It has started far before that date so this is wrong when we are looking at the essay question (for ex: Berlin Olympics) so it is wrong as timing, this is only one reason that is wrong but there will be more wrong points while you will look for the sources. (there should be 6-7 correct and wrong points when you focus on the question)

Before choosing 2 events please make sure that you answer the question in depth and to the point and then after using the sources and ppts it will be easier to find 2 events.

Assessment Criteria:
expected to respond to one of the above mentioned essay titles and, thus, focus upon a theme and two events of their choice. The essay needs to address the chosen topic in detail making reference to both theories/concepts/models as well as the two international events. An excellent essay would in fact be framed and structured by a relevant theory/concept/model and discuss, analyze and critically evaluate the chosen topic accordingly.

1.Knowledge and understanding of relevant theories/concepts/models and the corresponding reality as demonstrated through the detailed analysis of (maximum) two specific international events;
2.Depth of analysis is reflected in the degree of detail whilst focusing on the chosen case studies framed by an appropriate theory or concept;
3.Structure, i.e. purpose and outline of essay should be clearly identified in introduction, main part needs to contain theories/concepts/models as well as the detailed analysis of the chosen international events, and conclusion summarizes main findings succinctly;
4.Written communication i.e. appropriate use if the Harvard referencing system, coherence of text and neat word-processed presentation without typos/spelling mistakes;
5.Quality of sources, i.e. research across a broad range of academic materials, in particular journal articles, monographs and edited books (certainly not any introductory text books!) should be evident.
Essay need to be also looking at these Learning Outcomes:
1.Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding across a range of developmental and contemporary issues relating to the international events industry;
2.Review and evaluate theoretical and practical accounts of international event issues;
3.Assess and compare selected theoretical constructs that aim to explain the development and current state of the international events industry;
4.Research and synthesize literature on a chosen theory and a contemporary issue.
