Explain the similarities and differences between the three major sociological perspectives of functionalism, conflict, and interactionism. Identify the level of analysis emphasized for each perspective and apply each of the sociological perspectives to how sports can be viewed by society. Take a position on which sociological perspective applies best in your view.

What is the sociological imagination? You might begin by quoting Mill’s definition, but try to describe this phenomenon in your words. How does Mill’s make the distinction between personal troubles and public troubles (issues) of social structure? According to Mill’s, why is it important to develop our sociological imagination? Include material from the article “The Promise” by C. Wright Mills in your response.
