The most famous and best reform that time was the abolition of slavery, which caused an unprecedented public response. Preparing for the event was gradual, initially Lincoln stood for compensatory liberation from slavery. Working bibliography:
By: Rife, Douglas M, and Bron Smith. Gettysburg Address. Carthage, IL: Teaching & Learning, 1997. Print.

The book examines the most famous speech of the president and analyzes them in terms of his oratorical skill and ability to engage in dialogue with the public, in the absence of a specific rhetorical education.
By: Freedman, Russell. Lincoln: A Photobiography. New York: Clarion Books, 1987. Print.
No American president does not produce a number of portraits of Abraham Lincoln – some books about him published more than seven thousand (!), not to mention the other publications in periodicals – their name is legion! Not a man but a walking symbol. On the one hand, it elevate as a noble visionary who gave freedom to the slaves of America. On the other – the honor as narrow-minded racist and a hypocrite. Lincoln – the national hero, the embodiment of the qualities and properties of simple American with his common sense and cold calculation – some praise him for it, while others have blasphemed. This book examines all these versions.

By: McPherson, James. Abraham Lincoln and the Second American Revolution. New York: Oxford University Press, 1991. Print.
The book is divided into three parts: the socio-economic and political situation, which led to a civil war; personality and biographical data of Abraham Lincoln; and finally, to evaluate the role of Lincoln in the second American Revolution.

By: Carwardine, Richard. Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power. New York: Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, 2007. Print.
The author argues that, as a civil war aimed the Americans on the unity of the nation and a free society. Contemporaries perceived it as a “second American Revolution.” Political experiment of the United States served as an example for the unity of the national movements in Europe. This has led to the emergence of nation-states in Italy and Germany. The ideals of unity and “revival” of the American nation still awake in the minds of the American people not only memories of a man who more than anyone else does represented them, but also of his presidency.
By: Hanchett, William. The Lincoln Murder Conspiracies. Illinois: University of Illinois Press, 1989. Print.
The book is dedicated to the mystery of the murder of the president. Shortly after Lincoln’s assassination began to appear all sorts of speculation about the motives and secret springs of the crime. According to one version, the murder of Lincoln was conceived by the then Secretary of State for Defence Edwin Stanton – closest associates and assistant to the president during the Civil War. However, evidence of this and other similar suggestions have virtually no. It is most likely that criminal intent was done by a group of fanatics, who acted on their own initiative.
