“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet, “said Aristotle. This was one of the quotes that my high school uses as a motivator. In that way, the education in my high school was extremely strict. On the other word, It prepared students pretty good for college. Its goal was to educate students integrally. Therefore, my high school in the Democratic Republic of Congo prepared me spiritually, mentally, and physically for college life.
Fist, Bonsomi High School strongly prepared me spiritually for college life. For one thing, there were a worship service at school every Wednesday and Thursday morning. Going to church on those days was mandatory for students attending a baptism session. However, attendance wasn’t obliged for the rest of the school. As a good Christian, I was always participating in those sessions. Therefore, I was every day at school in the earlier morning and was advising my siblings to come with me as well. In addition, every class was supposed to attend at least five church sessions during the school year. It was a mixture of two or three classes depending on the student’s number. This was a time for us to get in touch with students of other classes. For example, before each session, we had a meeting with students of other classes in order to distribute different tasks. Finally, we always had a big worship service for the entire school three times a school year. The first one was to welcome new instructors and students. The second one was to celebrate Christmas. The last one was for the end of the school year. It is obvious that my high school did prepare me spiritually to overcome everything in college.
Next, my high school also prepared me mentally for college life. For one thing, each class was taken seriously in order to strongly help students to learn. All professors were strict and had a high education level. They were supposed to give a quiz as soon as one chapter was done. Therefore, I used to study every day in order to get ready for all my controls. Also, there were two final exams during the school year. Thus, there were activities out of classes to increase students thinking. For instance, competitions between classes were really helpful and rewarding. It was called in French “Genies en Herbe”, which means budding geniuses. This competition was based on general knowledge. Finally, every student had a chance to stay at school to study in group. They were obliged to stay four hours after 12:00 pm in order to be prepared for the next day’s classes. Those practices were really helpful and made us very strong and well prepared for college.
Lastly, Bonsomi School improved our physical characters. First, the physical education was a must for every student. Unless a student was sick, there was no reason to stay away from these classes. To be honest, I really hated this class when I was new in high school. However, the teacher forces me to do so. Thus, I became more active from there until today. In that way, I don’t mind walking every day to come to school because I do not have a car yet. Also, there were sport games between different classes according to their level. The class who wins the final game got a reward. Also, a symbol was given to the participating students. Furthermore, my high school produced good players and was always among the best schools. These examples got me ready physically for the future.
In conclusion, Bonsomi High school made me ready spiritually, mentally, and physically to face every challenge in College. Students from this school always succeed where ever they go after graduation. I am really proud of my high school because it helped me to know how to face any kind of situation in the future. Therefore, Bonsomi College is among the best college in the planet, and it is highly recommended.
