Varying levels of fatigue and fluctuating abilities.Explain

You have read this chapter before when you did an assignment for me in the beginning of this semester. Now I have a new assignment on this chapter. I am doing a group protocol for people with multiple sclerosis. The group is made up of 3 females and two males ages 57-78 who are all diagnosed with Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis. I designed the group to address their concerns: #1: Varying levels of fatigue and fluctuating abilities #2: Maintaining strength and mobility #3: Feeling trapped in the facility #4: Boredom, feeling useless, feeling dependent
Their goals are to be #1: active within and outside the facility #2: Having fun, finding enjoyment, feeling useful/productive #3: Contributing to, being a part of the local community.

Our assignment says to address and expand on one or more of these “Concerns”. So I chose #1: Varying levels of fatigue and fluctuating abilities #2: Maintaining strength and mobility.

The Group will hold 6 sessions and in each session I will educate them on one specific technique to manage fatigue and secondary maintain strength and mobility. I will also teach them an exercise in the last session. After each session they will identify one way they can incorporate the technique they learned in that session into their daily life.

I am working on the other parts of the assignment but one part is to choose an Occupational Therapy model that I can relate my group sessions to. I know that I can definitely relate “The Model of Human Occupation”. Please write one page double spaced on how this model relates to my intervention group.

GROUP Long Term Goal:
By the end of six sessions, each group member will independently demonstrate one strategy to manage fatigue and will identify one way they can incorporate the strategy into their daily routine.

SPECIFIC POPULATION NEEDS ADDRESSED BY THIS GROUP:
– Varying levels of fatigue, and fluctuating abilities
– Maintaining strength and mobility

Below are the exact instructions from the Prof:
“Identify the OT Model that you will use to guide the development and implementation of this group. Briefly the concepts of the Model that DIRECTLY AND EXPLICITLY RELATE to the needs of the population, purpose and goals of the group.”
