Through reading Part I of the textbook (The Art of Being Human) and participating in class discussion, you are growing as a critical thinker and understanding what the humanities are about, the impact they have to our lives and struggles faced by people who create and support the arts. The purpose of this assignment, therefore, is to enable you to make a meaningful connection between what you are learning and your personal experience. What you are learning thus far may have inspired you to re-interpret your past experience. Or your past experience may provide a concrete evidence to support what you are learning right now. Either way, take this assignment as a way to begin exploring you and the humanities through the arts.In this Personal Narrative Essay, you will write about a personal experience with the arts that was meaningful for you. When describing your experience, choose the most important details and develop them into a well organized essay. Make sure to identify and describe the event, place, artist, artwork (see \”The Disciplines of the Humanities\” in the textbook for various genres), and other information that were the essential part of your experience so your audience can understand the context of your experience. Note that whenever you mention an artwork, make sure to provide essential information such as the artist\’s name, title of the work, year created, and medium. Also in your essay, explain the reasons why such an experience with the arts was meaningful for you (or worth writing about in this course). Did it disturb or excite your feelings? Were you moved/shocked by the subject matter, artistic quality, or something else? Did it challenge your assumptions about something you might take for granted? Did it change your perceptions about the arts, the humanities, the world, etc.? Did it make you discover something new or different about yourself or others? Exploring these questions can help you realize and articulate how the arts impact your understanding of self, others, and the world.As a personal narrative essay, your writing style should reflect on your thoughts in a critical and organized manner. While you should feel free to use the first person voice, you should also strive to write clearly, using academic essay writing tone and style. Make sure to give a title to your essay and comply with the expected length (600 words). References are not required for this assignment; however, if you do choose to use additional references, you must also include a proper citation. MLA style is preferred in the field of humanities and thus in this course.This is a personal essay and Im not into art but i love this picture. I love the colors and just the way it looks. I love how how dramatic it looks and how he made the stars huge. When I first seen this, it made me appricate art a little more.
