What are the factors influence the performance of students from the Middle East immigrating to the U.S. for college education?
International student’s ratio has been growing significantly. Universities and colleges have been recruiting international students from all of the world for cultural and economic benefits. It is truly an opportunity for the internationals to get the best experience in their academic and social experience. On the other hand, being an international student from the Middle East in the United States is challenging in different aspects of wellbeing such as, culture and laws.
As Stated in the article, “Difficulties establishing friendships are exacerbated when the context of adjustment is marked by prejudicial attitudes or a history of problematic intercultural relations”, it is vital that students have to have good relationships and be more open-minded and educated concerning how to interact with other students from different cultural background and have better social support (Williams & Johnson, 2011). Without implementing good recruitment strategies for international students, it could cause a downfall of students’ presence within the university and college programs (McFadeen, Maahs-Fladung & Malett, 2012). Thus, better funding requires better strategies and implications for international students to maintain those economic and cultural benefits.
