Summary Papers (10 points X 5 papers = 50 points): For every therapy theory that will be covered this semester, you are required to write a 3-to-5-page paper answering the following questions. Please Note: This is not a summary paper. Your own ideas and critical understanding of these theories should be reflected in the papers. Thus, your responses to the questions below should not be a copy or duplication of the text from the readings. Copy or duplication of the text from the readings will negatively impact your grade for this assignment. Please make sure that you complete all questions.
❖ What are the basic tenets of this approach to therapy?
❖ How does this approach understand health and pathology?
❖ How does this approach understand individual, couple and family dynamics?
❖ What are the core therapy techniques?
❖ How does this theory compare and contrast with the other theories you read in the Fall semester as well as this semester?
❖ What is the interface between this theory and gender, class, race, sexual orientation, religion/spirituality, and culture? What are your thoughts about the lack of this interface with the theory?
❖ What are your reactions to the theory? What have you learned from this theory that may help you clinically? How do you imagine using this theory with a particular couple or family (fictitious or real)?

❖ I expect all written assignments to be graduate level quality. Meaning all your writings (on-line and print papers) should reflect thoughtful, clear and thorough critical thinking academic work without colloquialism (informal sentences or phrases). Print papers should be in Time New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced, with margins of 1’’ top and bottom and 1.25’’ left and right with page numbers. Your name should appear in the “header” section of the document. Reference should appear in APA style with parenthetical citations within the document text. Please follow the guidelines on parenthetical citations and references according to the APA style guide, 6th edition. Pay attention to your spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and flow of paper.
