You will need to do a little research, but your text provides a lot of useful hints already. Start by picking an issue that resonates with you. Lets say youre interested in learning more about the terrorist group ISIS. So, you research ISIS, and come up with 3 main reasons why ISIS is a global threat (HINT: you must focus on GLOBAL!) For example, you may read in the International Business Times that ISIS is considered a global threat because. You would note this reason, write a few sentences providing evidence for this claim, and then footnote it! This part of your paper should comprise no more than 1. 5 pages.
Next, youll do a little research on what is being done to address the problem. I have below several websites that can help you start your research. First, youll write about 0.5-0.75 pages on what 1 country is doing to address the threat. Make it an obvious choice. For example, if you are writing about ISIS, dont pick a country that is doing absolutely nothing about terrorism! Sounds pretty straight-forward, but youd be surprised how many students dont match up threats with responding actors.
You then will repeat this with what an IGO and a NGO are doing about the threat. Again, these non-state actors responses must match the threat. Youll then conclude with your own brief analysis as to which type of actor seems to be most effective in addressing the threat, and why.
How to pick an IGO and NGO? IGOs have countries as members, and NGOs have people as members. The worlds largest IGO is the United Nations.
