Description: You will be asked to produce a written report that demonstrates your ability to apply essential modelling skills such as abstraction, decomposition, simplification and integration in the analysis of the shortcomings of an existing information system and the design of an improved information system based on a real-world case study.
You will be asked to develop a set of different, yet interrelated models suited to comprehensively analyse the information system at hand, in order to showcase your ability to simplify, abstract, decompose, and reduce complexity. You will also be asked to compare and discuss relative strengths and weaknesses of the conceptual modelling paradigms employed.
You will receive individual marks for the contributions made to the group report and presentation based on predefined marking criteria.)
INSTRUCTIONS
The following tasks are to be attempted between Friday, 1 May 2015 and Friday, 29 May 2015.
• Please attempt all the three (3) tasks. Marks are as indicated.
• This is an individual task. You should NOT work in groups/teams.
• You can use Microsoft Word drawing tools, Microsoft Visio, or any other modelling tool to develop
models. We recommend that you use MS Visio template for drawing ORM models available on the
BlackBoard site of the IAB201 unit.
• Due date to submit Assignment 2 via Assignment Minder is Friday, May 29, 2015, 5pm.
• A hard copy of the report must be submitted via Assignment Minder.
