Write an essay where you compare two (2) American, Pre-Columbian societies (Pre-Eurocontact, that is, societies established before 1492 AD), described in our Section content and Duiker (Chapter 6) with 2 medieval African societies that Islam transformed (Chapter 8).
In your comparison consider at least four areas of the societies from this list: architecture, agriculture, governing styles, empire building, trade networks, and religion. Our job here is not compare better or worse societies, but levels of sophistication. Ask yourself during your reading about these societies what systems or ways of organizing did these societies have in common regarding how they organized their societies and met outside challenges or threats?
