Questions
In the paper, one of the arguments that Oren clearly exhibit is the issues that have contributed to the negative relationships between the Israel and the Israel/Palestine. Enthnocracy was manifest in Israel due to the long-term Zionist strategy of Judaizing Israel by incorporating the land between Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea as an Israel land. This notion stirred a conflict of interest with Palestine also claiming ownership of the same piece of land, who claimed to be the rightful owners of the land as their historical homeland. Furthermore, the ethnic relationship between these two countries has also been shape by territorial, material, political and cultural aspects. One of an illustration demonstrating how the relationship between the countries was the demand and announcement by the minister of lands and that of planning that the Israel/Palestine southern inhabitant Bedouins were to be evicted forcefully out of their land. The ministers send planes with poisonous chemicals to destroy the crops of the Bedouins to evacuate them from their homes forcefully to seven urban centres, a position that was highly received with resentment from the Bedouins. This demonstrates a conflict of interest and the fight for ownership of land and territories leading to escalation of ethnicity (page 7). The Israel/Palestine has different cultures from those practiced by the Israel leading to the conflict of which cultures should be adhered and practiced. The relationships has also to a larger extend been contributed by political interests by some of the top leaders in Israel. These interests have seen laws that are unfriendly to the Israel /Palestine enacted to make their daily lives difficult. Furthermore, such factors such as link between the Enthnocracy and military, effects of globalization, gender relations, urbanization, liberalization, ethnographic regimes and interrelationships between cities contributed to the negative relationships between the Israel/Palestine and the Israel. For instance, the regimes that have succeeded power and leadership of the country have always promoted and uphold to ethnicity exacerbating the relationships between the Israel and the Israel/Palestine. This has spurred conflict between the Israel and the Israel/Palestine.
Another key argument by the author is that appropriate measures need to be taken to resolve the Enthnocracy. The area under Israel control i.e. Israel/Palestine between the River and Mediterranean Sea should be analyzed under one apolitical geographic unit taking into count the opinions and views of the Palestinians and Jews Diasporas. This will assist in curbing escalation of conflicts, but assists in achieving an amicable solution to the long-term Enthnocracy problems that have indented the relationships between these two groups (page 12).
