The relation between Vit D intake and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women between ages 55and 60.Explain

Research proposal

Put together a research proposal, in which you describe how you would conduct (carry out) your own research study, on the related topic. Use the following guidelines to prepare your proposal:

I. Cover Sheet (page 1)

• Include the title of the research proposal and center it on the page:

The relation between Vit D intake and osteoporosis
In postmenopausal women between ages 55 and 60

• name, date, & course number (MM 425) underneath the title (leave 2 spaces between title & your name)

II. Introduction (use heading)

• Discuss the purpose of the study clearly define what is VIT D and what is measured
• Provide a summary of the importance of the study & relevance to the field (why should the topic be investigated)
• Briefly describe the type of research design that would be most appropriate to use for your study (e.g. this study will use a follow up correlational study. To conduct the study, samples will be selected to – with description how the samle was selected…)
• Provide a summary of what you expect to learn from the study

III. Review of Related Literature (use heading)

• Select 3 recently published research studies (years 2005 to 2015) on your topic and summarize each one in 2-3 paragraphs. Studies that have opposing viewpoints/insights regarding your topic are acceptable. Use peer-reviewed journals or books.
• After the summaries, briefly discuss how each of the studies are related to your topic. For example: According to the findings of __author #1_, three minutes of exposure to second hand smoke, twice weekly, in women under thirty resulted in…, and according to Author #2, …. , The proposed research study will seek to determine if four minutes of exposure is more significant…
• Use one additional reference to write your proposal. This reference does not have to be a research study. It can be an article related to your topic.

IV. Methodology (use heading)

Describe the specific research method that would be appropriate for the proposed study. Use your lecture notes on research design and your textbook to assist with preparing this section. The methodology section must include the following information:
a. Specific research methodology. If using an experimental design, describe which one you would use Correlational Research
b. Detailed description of subjects/test sample population
c. How subjects/test samples will be selected. Number of subjects/test samples
d. State the research question(s) and/or hypothesis.
e. Method of data collection—Be specific, and describe any tools that you might use to collect data (e.g. survey, experiment)
f. Discuss sampling bias & predict how it can affect the results of your study (e.g. choosing women under 30 with known family history of lung cancer)
g. Identify dependent variables, independent variables, treatment groups, and control group, placebo group.
h. Provide examples of confounding variables that may affect the outcome of your study AND propose how they might be controlled for (some types of research may not have these types of variables—see the instructor for assistance if you are not sure)
i. Propose how you will maximize the reliability and validity of your study.
j. Describe the process that will be used to collect the data AND describe how the data that will be collected is expected to be analyzed—what process will be used?
k. State any limitations to the research.
l. State the ethical considerations that may be involved with the research (with particular emphasis on human subjects or animals).
m. State whether the research study might require an IRB approval—how would this be done?
n. Clearly define the variables in your research study and operationalize them.

V. References (use heading)

Cite all references from section III using APA or MLA format:

Example APA Book:
• Author last name, First and Middle Initial (Year Published). Title of Book. Publisher: City in which book was published.

Example APA Journal article:
• Author last name, First and Middle Initial (Year Published). Title of article. Title of Journal, Volume(Number), pages x-y.

The proposal must be divided into sections, typed, double spaced, and be a 7 pages in length.
