Lip Products ad in a Magazine (Print Media)

Advertising is used as a way of enhancing sales of products through attracting potential customers and maintaining the existing ones (Moriarty, Mitchell & Wells, 2009). The ad selected in this essay is meant to advertise lip products mainly for women. The ad was placed in a magazine, a form of print media.

The target group in this ad is women who love to use beauty products. In the market today, there exist thousands of lip beauty products and competition is stiff to attract customers. This has pushed manufacturers to stiffen their backs in order to survive in the industry. The picture of the woman with glossy lips makes the ad effective because all the viewers of the ad will long to look like her. The creativity in this ad is flawless because it used both text and picture to pass across the intended information. This makes this ad memorable as it contains a lustrous image of a person who uses the product being advertised.

The media placement of this ad is on point. Women are fans of reading magazines at their own free time as they contain stories and information which are appealing to them. The need to realize the outcome of using the product and see the product itself made placing the advert in print more effective than radio medium. Also, print media has a wider reach as compared to television or outdoor advertising (Batra, 2009). Most magazines usually have a one month circulation period before the next edition. This made the placing effective as many copies of the same media can be circulated without incurring an extra cost in placing the ad on a daily basis.

This ad was effective because it used images to be memorable, used a long lasting medium and the target audience was reached effectively. Reference in print media is also an advantage (Batra, 2009).
