Data Management: Data Warehousing and Data Mining

Data Management: Data Warehousing and Data Mining

Management of information or data in an organization is very important. Different decisions pertaining smooth operation of different departments are made based on the available information. Without information, best decisions cannot be made. Data warehousing is a wide area that organizes information on different objects i.e. customers, employees, products, finances etc. Such information is rarely changed and is used in making decisions in the organization (Data warehousing, 2011). On the other hand, data mining is the process of discovering useful or meaningful related patterns and trends by digging into larger amounts of data in warehouses by use of statistical, mathematical and intelligence techniques. These processes are important in ensuring that information or data in an organization is readily available and decisions are made with ease.

The site is very laborious and resourceful. It has adequate amount of information on SAP crystal solutions. The demonstrations presented are very educative and resourceful to new users of the software in managing data that is useful in decision-making. The tools that are used in data storage are user friendly and easy to interpret. The information is summarized in these tools such as chart, graphs that facilitate understanding of the trends. Therefore, any person using the tools is able to make appropriate decisions.

A lot can be learned from the tools that are provided in the demos. First, is that the tools can enable a person or a team of indivisuals to share, create and manage their own reports with a lot of ease. Business can be empowered with important information in visual form that illustrates the operations and industrial process that helps in decision-making.  The visual presentation of processes helps or facilitates easy interpretation and understanding of trends and operations hence enabling individuals or managers to make quick decisions. Reports on the past performance of a business can also be easily generated hence facilitating easy analyzing and comparison of information (SAP crystal solutions, 2012).

These tools are important in various situations. First, they are important in situations where present decisions to be made depend of the previous trends. This is because they provide information on the past occurrence or trends. Second is that the tools are important in situation where management of decisions makers of an organization keep changing from time to time. Third, is that they are important in situations where the users understood the working and functioning of the tools.

These tools can be applied in organizations, in an individual’s career or even to one’s personal life. In an organization, they can be used in making decisions by comparing the trends over certain duration of time of business operation. In careers, they can also be used to determine or show the performance of an individual over a certain period of time hence assisting in making decisions concerning careers to take. In a personal life, the tools can be used in making decisions pertaining to investment among many others.

In conclusion, according to my own evaluation, the tools are practical and useful if well implemented and used in the organization. Even though they require a lot of expertise and knowledge on how their operation, they can be productive if they are applied appropriately. The fact that the tools can allow sharing of information from various sources helps the company to adapt to changing business environment easily without jeopardizing the operation of a business.
