Generations

Generation has various connotations. The term can be defined as  production of offspring or generation of ideas and adopting of new technologies to  improve the way processes or actions are carried out.  In terms of technology, the term refers to stages of successive improvement in the way technological products functions. For example, mobile phone technology has been evolving over years into user friendly and appropriate gadget of communication. On other hand, the term may be used to refer to the passing on of traits’ from one generation to another. Therefore, this generational development is both dependent on circumstantial as well as cultural consequences.

It is therefore important to note that children or people in a certain generation share their historical and cultural beliefs. This is because such children are socialized in the same environment. Generations can also interact with other. These interactions may cause some sought of conflict or unrest due to differences in opinions, cultural beliefs and inclination of ideologies.

There are various types of generations. These includes prophetic or idealist generation, which were characterized with people being principled and cerebral. The people waged righteous wars against their opponents.  People in nomad or reactive generation and are known to be cunning and brave warriors that confronts their problem head on. Other types of generations included civic or hero generation and were known to be rational institutional builders and competent in their old age. They also agitate for development of technology, prosperity in economics and unity in social spheres. Artist or adaptive generations are those that valued justice and fairness in the society. They agitated for politics that is inclusive rather than exclusive.

Different generations vary on the values and beliefs they stand by. It is also common for generations to talk about other generations-their positives and negatives. These criticisms often creates some disagreement among the generation as the former may view the later as going against what they belief or what is believed to be cultural beliefs of values or customs. Therefore, such brings conflict between the generations.

Generations in most cases are categorized on the basis of time. Unique features characterize the timeliness of one particular generation. For instance, various generations are categorized based on timeline from 1922 to 2000.   Veterans or rather silent or traditionalists is a generation that existed between 1922-1945. Baby boomers existed between 1946-1964, generation X existed between 1965-1980 while generation Y or rather echo boomers of Millennial existed between 1981-2000.

Every generation had its unique characteristics that differentiated it from the other.  For instance, veteran’s generation were known to respect their authority. The people were also conformers and exemplified high discipline. They practiced both traditional and nuclear family structures and the most used communication was one-on –one. Generation baby boomers were optimistic about life and cherished the idea of joining other in ensuring that they fulfill a common objective. Family often disintegrated. Education was something that was mandatory to all the children. Generations X were most skepticism and liked fun. They were also informative and inquisitive and they perceived education to be a means of achieving or getting what they wanted in life. Generation Y on the other hand, exemplified high levels of realism and confidence.  This generation was extremely fun and social compared to other generations. Furthermore, the families were merged and related as one unit. Education to this generation was perceived to be something that was an incredible expense. The generation was also more advanced and quick at adopting new technologies internet was one of the major avenue of communication through email. Communication through mobile phones was also improved at greater lengths as pictures could be send to one another.

In conclusion, there are many generations that has existed over the past. As generations pass on, there are certain traits that are carried on while others perceived to be inferior are relinquished.  Therefore, this makes the new generations to evolve and improve on what the past generation left. This trend is set to continue until the coming to an end of the universe.
