Hepatitis F

Hepatitis F

In essence, the owner of the tattoo store is in a lawsuit due to a single word, which was not spelt correctly. This could be easily termed as foolishness due to lack of consensus between the defendant and the plaintiff on an issue easily solvable outside the courtroom. The title provided by the author in essence is used sarcastically as there does not exist a disease referred to as Hepatitis F. this is essence is a misspelling of the actual disease which might be used to refer to the several strains of the hepatitis disease, which is in fact deadly. Thus, the term could be used to interpret the various forms of disease within the Hepatitis bracket. In relation to the tattoo, the tattoos could have meant numerous meanings as the author illustrates with the term “ELESE DOES EVERYONE-AND WHY NOT?”

The tattooist however was negligent in that he did not ensure that the name provided was accurate when performing the delicate task. In addition, it is also an indication of greed for money and or the mere drive to make profits as he had been performing his tasks from the previous night into daylight.

Part 1 Analysis using Timothy’s Method of Analysis

In a twist on the Oedipus complex, Prudence Crowther, in Hepatitis F repeatedly enforces the theme that being stabbed or pierced by objects results in disease. The disease after which the story is titled, Hepatitis F, remains vague and subject to debate, but the method of transmission is clear: long, sharp objects.

The author finds the incident as comical and tries to compare the event with other times when such incidences did not attract lawsuits. The plaintiff finds that the author or tattooist spelt inaccurately the words “ELSE” and wrote “ELESE” out of mere negligence. The title of the article as provided is used to illustrate a tough predicament, which is to remove or evade as evidenced by the surgical procedures that the plaintiff underwent with an aim of removing a tattoo he found offensive.

Part 2

Comment of Analysis 1 – Analysis by Timothy:

Timothy’s view is precise and relevant as he compares and gives similarities of the title of the topic as it relates to the theme of the story. As he relates Hepatitis disease, which is an inflammation of the liver to the presence of a tattoo that was not, spelt accordingly. Both the tattoo and the hepatitis have the ability to cause intolerable discomfort to the bearers. In addition, his introduction gives an implicit definition of how he views the topic as pun intended with the aim of drawing in the audience to know of the “Hepatitis F” which is not a disease.

His theme could be described as sufficient and relevant because of the plaintiff and the defendant exercises some great deal of foolishness. However, on part of the defendant, it could be described as negligence because of the lack to ensure that he was doing the appropriate tattoo. In addition, his drowsiness could be an indication of the greed to make money such that he has little regard for rest. His view that the plaintiff is foolish is accurate. This is because the costs of having a rectification of the tattoo could be significantly lower than the costs of seeking legal remedies from a court of law for single letter misspelling on a tattoo. In addition, the plaintiff’s inability to reason could be simply termed as foolishness or irrationality.

In addition, as a treatable disease, hepatitis is not permanent depending on which type, which is identical to tattoos, which can be removed through laser surgery but under intense pain. Hence, his conclusion in terms of the relationship between the tattoo and the Hepatitis F is relevant as both are irritating and share a theme within the story.

Analysis 2 – Analysis by Michael Neiman

According to the second essay, the author views that the story is about the lifestyle of a biker and tattoos as well. He adds that in the tattoos business the carelessness of a tattooist might prove to be costly in terms of money and health. The motorcycle rider or “biker” as they are commonly referred to as in society lead careless lives which could eventually lead to eventual and deadly diseases such as Hepatitis. His opinion is relevant because he gives exemplary and vivid examples from a societal perspective.

His theme of underachievement could be termed as the best as it illustrates the presence of negligence, which, Joey Barstow exhibited. Hence, he could be termed as an underachiever as he has not been used to extensive work and late night schedules. His inability to configure simple words in a complex process is lack of competence by the proofreader. In addition, it is also sufficient in that the proofreader provides an irrelevant mistake for such a simple but devastating mistake in giving the tattooist the price wording on the tattoo provided by the customer.

In addition the provide reasons for the tile and the mistake are related as implied by the author of the essay. This is accurate because there does not exist Hepatitis F, only A, B and thus the proofreader could easily make an identical mistake of misspelling either Hepatitis A, B or C as he seems to exercise a great deal of negligence. Hence if he were presented with a similar task with the aim of writing the word hepatitis AB or C given the under pressure circumstances he would eventually give another Hepatitis such as F, G or any other letter. Thus, this could be termed as an exemplary definition of the inadequacy in terms of concentration to the details by the proofreader.

Analysis 3 – Analysis by Hanna Johnson

From this essay, the author gives an honest account of the various interpretations for the provided topic and its relation to the article. She adds that she finds the title as pun intended and funny towards the reader because of the inexistence of a disease such as Hepatitis F. in addition she adds that the title of the article is aimed at providing a relationship between the title and the theme of the story, which is misspelling as illustrated by the proofreader. She also adds that if the title of the article was presented as a real name or term for the actual Hepatitis strains such as Hepatitis A, B or C could change the relation of the title and the theme in the story in entirety. In addition, she gives an opinion of the initial relation she tied the title to theme of the presence of the Hepatitis disease in tattooing parlors. She concludes that after reading the story she was able to relate the tile of the story to the theme provided by the article of the presence of hepatitis within tattooing and incidences of misspelling.

She thinks that the defendant finds the incident as comical because a simple misspelling which has accrued court charges. She adds that the theme of the story is “Hepatitis F”, while essence she seems to find that them is comedy in terms of the tile and the misspelling of the tattoo. In addition she adds that she finds the situation as serious whereas the individual or defendant finds the issue as comical while he had been taken to court for the matter.

Furthermore the author gives a relation of the story to the title by showing the gravity of having a tattoo misspelling and contracting Hepatitis which is a serious disease. Thus, she finds that the title is in essence a misspelling due to the inexistence of a disease such as Hepatitis F. in addition she adds that there is a possibility of contracting Hepatitis while getting a tattoo. She in essence seems to caution of the presence of hazards posed by the tattoo. Thus, she concludes that the aim of the title and the theme in the story are misspelling in tattooing business, which could be a grave mistake as well as a humorous mistake.
