In a perfect society, there would never be a need for change. The world, however, is imperfect and could potentially change in many positive ways. Many factors influence change, and these factors vary based on society’s diverse culture. To understand the process of change and its impact on society, developmental theories are often used. Likewise, systems theory and components of systems can influence change and the change process. All of this information is intended to empower the human services professions’ roles as social change agents, leaders, and advocates.
