kidney function evolution

The kidneys perform excretion via three distinct processes. In the first process, filtration is performed in the Bowman’s capsules of the nephron. This is a highly non-selective process; any molecule that will fit through the pores of the filtration membrane enters into the renal tubule. In the second process reabsorption, active transport removes some molecules (nutrients, salts, etc.) from the filtrate as it moves through the renal tubule. Secretion, the third process involves active transported of additional wastes into the filtrate. Why do you think evolution selected this process involving filtration, reabsorption, and secretion as opposed to a system in which all waste molecules are simply actively transported into the renal tubule? Justify your answer. This will require more than a sentence, but no more than a paragraph. You may work in groups to come up with your rationale, but each person must write their own answer.
