Locating Resources

Locating Resources

Locating and utilizing resources and information related to the Health and Human Services (HHS) is very critical when reflecting on the HHS jobs. It has been noted that HHS spans in a number of areas identifying with immigration, poverty, alcoholism, violence on the media, unemployment, health, gambling, homelessness / hunger, criminal justice, mental illness and sexual harassment (Baldacci, 2013).  In synthesizing the relevant information needed in the research work, it is important for the researcher to question oneself on the expected results, or the main aim of the research (Coe & Sarbin, 2004). It is important for the researcher to make necessary connections of ideas originating from different sources. The researcher is expected to choose multiple sources on the subject of interest and then merge the content in making the necessary inferences on HHS. Search engines in the internet example being Google and Yahoo are useful in retrieving the useful resources.

Search engines are critical in the World Wide Web, where the model is designed in accessing information and programs through keyword searches. Findings indicated that there are different such engines and the searches covers on URL’s, documents or the full text. Different search engines gives different or more similar information, basing on the way the search engine used behaves, an indication that it is important to engage different search engines in order to acquire a diversity of information (Coe & Sarbin, 2004).

Health Department or United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is part of the Federal government with the mandates of providing essential and the much needed human services and protecting the health of the American people; the organization is propelled by the motto of improving the safety, health and well being of United States (Baldacci, 2013).

Searching for unemployment and Health and Human Services (HHS) at the search engine; 1,190,000 results or hits was observed within 0.14 seconds, this is according to the Google search engine. Some of the materials observed identified with HHS launching partnership with young invincible on video contest, where people can work according to surveys conducted by HHS, more services offered by HHS on unemployment, morning memo on the HHS’s three strikes, a report on labor, health and human sciences and education, a report on how mobile apps are influencing the government HHS and creation of new job opportunities, a report on HRSA on unemployment,

One of the most influential articles focused on how technology is creating employment and at the same time improving the government HHS, this is a win-win situation since both the unemployed population and the health care facilities. Modernization has led to the growth of socialization and globalization, an indication that technology is presenting numerous job opportunities across the globe. Convergence of mobility is benefitting, as smart phones and smart gadgets are incorporated in the health care facilities.

Locating resources in the libraries entails almost a similar process, a researcher is expected to locate the library, check on the hours of operations, borrow or renew materials on unemployment and HHS, at times photocopy although some materials are protected by the copyrights laws, request resources or clarifications and access e-resources where necessary (Coe & Sarbin, 2004). Most libraries operate in networks depending on the jurisdictions. A number of libraries offer interlibrary loans, electronic subscriptions, on site collections and other document delivery services. Some of the well established libraries identify with lib-web-cats, LibDex and WorldCat among others.

Professionals and students clearly understand that conducting valid, accurate and timely research is essential in writing the observed results (Orcher, 2004). Locating resources involves determining the desired research question/topic, understanding the difference in secondary and primary research, determining the timeline and the scope of the research, developing a sound research question, learning on the best model of finding and utilizing resources that are useful, gathering possible resources, reading the collected material in detail, short listing on what has been read, setting an open mind for more resources, evaluating used sources, always remembering the research question, developing the tentative thesis and finally writing the final draft. It is important to add paraphrases, quotes and summaries to the final draft, and also acknowledge the original source, and keep on revising the draft to make it complete and comprehensive (Orcher, 2004).
