Management and Leadership

Management and Leadership

In blue-sky company, there are issues that are hindering the progress of the company due to the ignorance of the administration sector. The company cannot run smoothly as the effective management is the solution to enhancing the development and growth of the business. One way of achieving a successful management is to research the marketplace surroundings and generate employment and earnings opportunities that offer the probable expansion and financial feasibility of the business. In spite of the magnitude of management, this part is frequently misunderstood and defectively put into operation, principally because people concentrate on the productivity to a certain extent than the progression of management.

The issue of leadership and authority in the company happens to be the greatest problem in the company due to the possessiveness of the leaders in their posts. This comes in the areas where CEO Willis is unwilling to consider the proposal of Susy Hubres on implementing strategic plan for the company. This is a very appalling character of a leader because contrary to this, a leader is should be considerate on the proposals that are meant to facilitate efficiency in the business. According to Max the founder of the Company, the idea of meetings was not worthy for it was a waste of time. This brings a tendency in the company where not all the leaders will conform to the issues of meeting. The leadership had poor foundation due to the poor administration of the founder. This brings another issue that the preceding leaders will be unwilling to implement any new proposal but instead they will rely on the old methods of leadership. For instance, the relationship between James and Max is unhelpful because James continues to perform badly in the work with the excuse that nothing will be done to him since he is a close friend to the founder of the company. Thus, in order for the company function effectively, “the employees should be treated equally hence eliminating the shielding element from the higher authority” (Normann 1991).

The other characters of management relates to the flexibility of leadership whereby leaders are willing to accept and adapt to new changes. This is because the world is dynamic and hence things are changing and new methods of leadership are being implemented due to the evolution of new problems regarding to management. Therefore, there is need of a strategic plan in the company that should be analyzed by the management. Strategic plan gives the company a wide variety of choices on the operating system that it would want to operate through. The provision of this assortment of choices is for the management to analyze which method works better for the company. This is because; the changing world has been associated with the changing technology that has brought many effects in the execution of business plans in management.

The motivating factor of the company on the employees is a vital aspect that facilitates the good performance in the operations of the company. Therefore, if the management is not considering recognizing it employees and the work they do, then the employees will feel demoralized. Thus, this result to reluctance in the performance of the works thus leading to poor quality production. This also has to do with the relationship that exists in the places of work for there is need for good relationship between the employees and the employer or the management. In many instances, the poor relationship in an organization leads to lack of motivation since the employees are having limited access to the higher authority. In the Blue-sky company, the inability of the company senior leadership to accept the proposals made by the other employees is a big blow to the company role of motivating its employees. This is because, the system of management does not recognize the ideas put across by its employees thus this becomes a discouraging factor to the proposing employees. Therefore, even if the company has never had a formal strategic plan, it should be in the company. In addition, the idea of having a meeting is important for it facilitates discussion that result to selection of better methods of management.

The combined way of decision making in the company is vital in ensuring that the efficiency of the business is enhanced. Hence, the idea of a meeting is important in order to facilitate effective decision-making. The perfection of decision-making is enhanced by the combined efforts of the people’s intellectual capacities. The plan that was suggested was to ensure the business is able to compete healthy with other companies offering the same service. “The fast decision making that is enhanced by the combination of intellectual ideas helps in the quick solving of problems in an organization” (Collinson & Jackson 2011). Thus, the ability of the Blue-sky leadership to become flexible could be beneficial in the strategic plan of the company. This is a positive change because the company will be able to identify the problems facing its operations and the effective ways of dealing with those problems.

The problems that have been associated with the Blue-sky company are because of the poor management. One role of management is planning, which has been deprived its existence in the company. This has been facilitated by the concept of leadership taking all the responsibilities and barring the option of consultation. In addition, the leadership has taken the overall responsibility of making decision of the company thus ignoring the function of management. The other function of management entails the establishment of goals and objectives of the company. In this case, the company will not progress or will not achieve if it does not set down goals. This is because, goals ensure the company has a focus, thus it works tirelessly until it fulfils those objectives. Therefore, the Blue-sky company management needs to be flexible and adaptable to changes.
