People develop opinions and attitudes over time. Patriotic impulses grow and deepen or weaken for a variety of reasons. Choosing from among any of the readings in Changing Society as well as at least one outside source, describe how your patriotic feelings have evolved. Consider influences like family, friends and school as well as printed material and media sources like television, movies and the Internet. As we have discovered, volunteerism, heroism and war are complex matters, defying easy interpretations. In your response, include the complications that arise when describing your patriotic feelings. Distinguish between how you feel about America, the country, versus American politicians or policies. How do you show how you feel about America? What example are you giving to others?
