My topic is Post-Internet Art. My professor require me several things. The first thing is to have a theorist, and my theorist is Gene McHugh. Then, I must have a book wrote by this theorist, and my Book is Post-Internet – Notes on the Internet and Art. We need write this term paper base on the theory form this book and this theorist.
This is the requirement of my professor:
Term Papers:
As this is not an art history class, a term paper that is nothing but a 101-level art historical survey fails to meet the course requirements and will not be accepted for the Term Paper in this course. If you are unsure if your paper meets the requirements of a theory class, it is your obligation to meet with me to discuss your Term Paper.
This paper is to be a discussion of a specific (single) theory located during your research into your topic.
This is a research paper, so footnotes and appropriate sourcing is expected in both the ‘draft’ and ‘final’ papers.
Other topics may be proposed by the student and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students must sign-up for a topic to prevent redundant research and presentation.
As this is a reasearch paper focusing on how these concepts apply to visual and motion pictures, term papers should
include visual examples of works discussed, a bibliography, footnotes/endnotes and follow the formatting guidelines provided. Research can include web-based materials, but only so long as the non-web-based research is in a ration of 2:1. Thus, 1 web-based source must be supplemented by 2 non-web-based sources (peer-reviewed academic journals, mongraphs, etc.). Please note, Wikipedia is not an appropriate research source for a paper of this type, and should not be used; but a
journals such as CTheory would be entirely appropriate.
If you do not understand your topic or what it’s theory might be, do not select that topic: part of this course is developing your critical skills at understanding and recognizing the theoretical elements of an artistic practice; it is your responsibility to locate and select the theorical position represented in each topic. If you can not do this with the topic you have selected, your grade will reflect that failure.
In many cases, there are more than one possible theory to use, so it is your responsibility is to choose one and discuss it in detail in your paper.
Electronic submissions (i.e. by email) are not accepted for the paper. Make two print-outs of all papers submitted; retain one for yourself and hand-in the other copy. These papers will require visiting the library. All papers must include at least three sources; no more than 1 online source (such as Wikipedia) is acceptable.
Failing to cite all your sources is potentially plagiarism. Do not cut-and-paste material from websites into your essay or use other people’s writing without proper documentation; even if it is “given away” under a creative commons license that does not require identification of authorship, scholarly research requires all source materials to be properly recognized.
Research papers will follow the format example handed out in class, and will include citations for sourcesemployed in researching the paper (both as bibliography and as footnotes). Failure to follow correct format will result in an automatic failing grade.
The Draft version of the Term Paper due in class 8 is expected to be a completed, “final” draft. It will be read, and suggestions made to improve its quality.
Also, I have very simple draft of outline:
