One of Descartes\’ major contributions to psychology was his understanding of the mind-body interaction. Describe Descartes\’ view of this interaction including an explanation of how his view differed from the accepted view of his time and how it was influenced by the mechanistic Zeitgeist of his day. Now briefly describe the research of Hall, Florens, and Gall’s exploration of the brain, Galvani, Cajal, and Helmholtz’s investigation of the nerves, and Weber and Fechner’s study of the senses being sure to include a brief explanation of how their work supported and contributed to the understanding of Descartes’ view of the mind-body interaction.
