Topic: For this paper, you will write a literature review on the relationship between religion and the death penalty (capital punishment). Specifically, this paper assignment calls for a literature review of the effects of religion and religiosity on public support for and against the death penalty. Focus on the theories, hypotheses, and explanations for how religion and religiosity determine whether the public support or oppose the death penalty (capital punishment).
Conceptualize the paper in four parts: (1) Discuss in a general way the patterns or similarities as well as how the works differ (they are unique from each other to some extent). Summarize the goal/purpose/aim of the works. (2) Discuss the substance of the works. Give the main ideas/arguments/theses. (3) Summarize the results. Here, tell me what the works have in common (consensus or near consensus) and where they disagree (the subject’s controversies, arguments, debates). (4) Provide the key findings and what work needs to be done (what is not covered in the literature).
