Take a look at what the Canadian Nurses Association has done to make a difference in the community.
Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is comprised of Canadian Registered nurses (leaders and partners) who work to advance nursing and health. The organization seeks to advance positive health outcomes in the interest of the public and nursing excellence (Wilkinson & Treas, 2010). It also advocates in the interest of the public for a non-profit, publicly funded health system. The organization acts in the public interest for Canadian nurses and nursing, offering national and global leadership in health and nursing.
Mission and Vision
As an organization, CNA is the state professional voice and interest of registered nurses, and promoting the nursing practices, and the vocation to enhance the outcomes of health in a non-profit and public funded health system (Wilkinson & Treas, 2010). This is achieved through the company’s mission and vision that include reinforcing nursing leadership, joining the registered nurses’ voices, serving the interest of the public, enhancing a vibrant profession and promoting nursing excellence, and promoting quality health system and healthy public policy.
Potential Advantages of Membership
There are various benefits associated with being a member of CNA. Among the goals of the organization include transforming the organization’s governance processes and structure and to extensively involve nurses in promoting nursing and health. CNA seeks to advocate and shape the healthy public policy regionally, nationally, and globally (Kumar & Snooks, 2011). Another goal is to advance nursing management for nursing and health and to enhance and promote the role of registered nurses in order to reinforce the Canadian health system and nursing, as a whole. Membership, therefore, enables nurses to enhance the depth and breadth of nursing skills and knowledge and reinforces the relation between nurses and the wider healthcare society (McIntyre & McDonald, 2014). Other benefits include scholarships and discounts in health-related materials.
