Case study

The current highway funding structures relating to taxes paid by motor carriers have both pros and cons. Some of the pros of these structures are that; it allows collection of revenue that contributes to the nation’s economic growth and prosperity (Kile, 2011). The funds can be invested in infrastructure therefore helping to increase the stock of capital in the economy and in contributing to the increased productivity of labor. It also ensures that goods, services, and even people are transported easily from one point to another, which impacts positively on the general economy (Kile, 2011). One of the cons is that, sometimes taxes are high and this exploits the motorists, thus the structures may not be well managed leading to mismanagement of the funds meant for development especially when the money is not used for the intended purpose.

Sustainability efforts by Wal-Mart even though essential will impact on its logistic industry.  A project requires an expenditure of sizeable amount of money for it to work. The company therefore, will be forced to make some adjustments in its services and products something that will affect its daily operations.  These efforts will also trigger similar action from other corporate to take such initiatives leading to restructuring of their programs and plans.

Nowadays, many companies have taken a center stage in teaching and encouraging their staff to be a role model. One of the companies that have come out strongly in this is FedEx.  This noble program will help to transform how the staff behave and carry themselves out. It   empowers people to be good ambassadors and to make appropriate decisions about various aspects concerning their daily lives such as environmental sustainably and many others. I therefore support the initiatives spearheaded by the companies as they help to champion for a better society.
