For an organization to succeed, there is need to be dynamic and embrace change. Most organizations that have remained static in their operations have become redundancy and less competitive compared to those that have invested in continuous improvement n their operation and functioning.  There are various reasons why most organizations embrace change and invest in continuous improvement. Some of these include: being competitive, improving on their customer satisfaction, remaining relevant to the market and increasing their sales among many other reasons.

It is not enough for organization that have succeeded to relent in their efforts of adapting to new strategies. They need to keep changing and doing their things in different ways to ensure that they keep up to the expectations of their clients. As time elapses, the needs and preferences of customers or clients changes. To keep up breast with these changes, it is vital for organization to change their way of operation by considering the needs of their clients.

Another reason is to be competitive in the market. There are many organizations that deal in the same products and services and therefore, they compete for the available market. To be able to capture larger share of the market, the organization needs to work an extra mile to ensure that it attracts more customers. This can only be achieved if an organization embraces change and is receptive or sensitive to the needs of the customers. Others reasons why organization needs to embrace change is to achieve their goals and objectives.

Organizations can change in a number of ways. One of the way in which an organization can change is by revising its recruitment process, whereby, the processes should be competitive, free, and fair to attract competitive candidates. Another way is by improving their products and services. These changes can be done in a continuous manner to ensure that they achieve their objective. Implementation of the changes is yet another important aspect when it comes to changes in an organization. The changes can be implemented after carrying out a research on the needs of the customers such as demands of the goods and the expectations of the customers. Afterwards, a strategy or rather a plan should be formulated to ensure that changes introduced conform to the expectations of the organization and the customer. The changes can be implemented piecemeal or wholesomely depending on the various factors at hand.

Before embarking on these changes, an organization should consult with the people or stakeholders to ensure that best ideas are contributed.  Through the consultations good ideas will be elicited hence leading to delivery of good services and production of good products that meets the expectation of everyone.

Organization culture is also important in determining the quality of services an products produced by an organization.  An organization culture can encourage innovative or discourage it. Culture forms basis of an organization’s attitude. Positive attitude in an organization can stimulate positive thinking hence leading to innovation in an organization.

Recruitment, selection and retention of staff

Attracting employees with requisite skills and talents is key in ensuring that an organization achieves its goals and objectives.  Therefore, the human resource department should put a lot of efforts in recruitment of staffs in organization to ensure that those recruited are competent enough to drive the goals of an organization forward.

Induction programme is important for the newly selected employees in organization. Therefore, the HR department should be able to come up with appropriate plans to ensure that these new selected staff as are well oriented to the organization. Induction is important because it helps to orient the new staffs to the organization on how it operates. This helps in familiarizing the recruits on how the organization operates. It is also important because it helps to form attitudes about the organization because it is the first impression to the recruits. Hence, it is an important stage in an employee’s early experience with the organization. The HR should plan by having a good plan to areas that the recruits will be taken through. These include the physical organization, and the nature of the work the recruit will be working on.

Learning and development is essential in motivating staff and in developing their careers and professions. Various organizations use different strategies in ensuring continuous professional development of their staffs. One of the ways organizations use is application of the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. This strategy requires that organization satisfy the physiological needs of employees such as basic needs, safety, and love among others before satisfying their self-actualization. This motivates employees to work hard towards achieving the objectives of an organization

Personal development plan is as sort of action plan that details the aspiration of an individual career wise, relationship, education and self-improvement.  In this case, to become a project manager, the individual will require additional training, skills, and experiences to be able to take on this new role effectively. Some of the training will include, working with other employees on the job and joining a learning institution to acquire relevant skills and knowledge in the area. The person will also require additional support from core workers who will help him to acquire first hand experience on the responsibilities of the job.

In conclusion, organization should invest more in recruitment and selection process. This will allow them to get expertise and right talents to helps them achieve their goals. They should also adapt to good policies and procedures of ensuring that staffs who exemplify good performance are retained in the organization. Therefore, HR department should work hard to ensuring that their organizations remain competitive by planning well and selecting suitable recruits.
